Overview

Welcome to the review for Bose - SoundSport Free True Wireless Headphone. I have been using these headphones for more than 6 months. It comes with charging case, threae sport tips and USB cable. The charging case offers good protection while also providing charging ability.

Aesthetic appeal

The build of these headphones are good. However, they are large to be considered earbuds. Do not expect the headphones to be invisible in your ears. I am fairly confident the next generation of these headphones will be smaller but the current generation one is not obscure.

The case for the headphones are well designed. It is compact and charges the headphones while the headphones rest in the case. The case has a battery. The case can be charged independently while you are using the headphones.

My Experience

I mainly purchased these truly wireless headphones to keep the wires from tangling while running or working out. I have used other wired Bose headphones and love the sound quality. I seriously considered SoundSport wireless headphones but I was concerned that the wired connection between the two pieces might fall part soon. This happened with a previous wired version of the Bose headphones. From my experience with the previous wired Bose headphones, I learned that the ‘Stay Hear’ style of the tips really helped the ear pieces from staying in my ears, while not putting too much pressure in the ear canals. The truly wireless headphones have not disappointed me either in this regarding. I run, lift weights and do floor cardio workouts. They never drop in any of these workouts. Furthermore, these headphones have the traditional Bose sound quality, which I love the most.

The initial setup had to be performed using Bose Connect App on your iPhone or android phone. The setup process went fairly smooth. The app is also required for firmware upgrades and equalizer settings. Once setup the normal Bluetooth feature of the phone can be used to connect to these headphones.

Pros

  • Use the app to find the headphones in case a ear piece falls out.
  • Sturdy case with wireless charging
  • Great sound quality
  • ‘Stay hear+’ tip work great. This is subjective. The tips does not seem to work well for everyone. So check this out before you buy.

Cons

  • Pricey. All true wireless headphones still are pretty in even in the year 2020.
  • The headphones do not power on after taking the headphones from the case as they normally do, when the case runs out of juice. On way to bring the headphone back to life is to plug the case with the headphone to charge, and then pick the headphones out.
  • When I do not use the earphone often the headphone retains charge but the case often runs out of battery.
  • Phone calls can be heard in only one ear.

Conclusion

Over all great wireless headphones. When these headphones were initially launched there were many issues. Many of them are resolved with the firmware updates provided over the last three years. I feel the great sound quality, the ‘Stay hear+’ style tips, charging case and truly wireless nature of the headphones make it a great buy, especially if you are into any fitness activity. I would give these headphones 4 out of 5.
